MCP Tests Off MCDBA CD Have Script Errors!

I decided to become MCDBA certified and bought a book (70-228) that
will help me study for the first test. I pop in one of the CD's it
came with and install the test questions. When I launch the program I
get this: http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/7...pterror2zm.jpg
Okay, I click yes, and it loads the program. I then click start test
and I get another one of those messages. I click ok and then I get a
blank screen. I figure maybe it has something to do with the fact that
I have Firefox as my default browser, so I set IE as my default browser
and have the same problem. I tried lowering the security settings all
the way with no luck as well as making sure anything related to scripts
under the advanced tab in IE settings is checked or allowed to run. I
reboot, still nothing. I install it on my laptop with XP SP2 as well,
same thing.
Has anyone run across this problem before? Are these tests not
compatible with XP SP2? I've already emailed Microsoft about it, but
I'm pretty sure I'll be certified before I get a response. Being able
to use these tests is what lead me to purchase the book in the first
place.
Edit-My friend bought the same book earlier in the year and I had him
try to install it on his XP laptop and he has the same problem.

in SP2 breaks the program. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885674/en-us

MCDBA preparation

Any good tips for passing the MCDBA cert exams?
Thanks

MCDBA or MCTS

For my last 3 years I have work with the SQL 2000 as a database analysis. Now I want to get a certification to prepare me to look for a better job.Which certification is more valuable in today job marker MCTS or MCDBA.

That would be easy. MCTS - SQL Server, MCITP - Database Administrator, or MCITP - Database Developer. Why? MCDBA is a SQL Server 2000 certification. MCTS - SQL Server is the Microsoft Certfied Technical Specialist - SQL Server which is for SQL Server 2005. After attaining your MCTS in SQL Server (70-431), you can take two exams to get the MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) Database Administrator (70-443 and 70-444) or you can take two exams (70-441 and 70-442) to get your MCITP - Database Developer.

The MCDBA is the old cert and the MCTS/MCITP is the new certification.

|||

Indeed, you don't gain any benefits when doing MCDBA. The only benefit you could have is to gain some extra knowledge when studying for the exam but since you allready have some experience this will be limited.

There is an upgrade track from MCDBA to MCITP Administrator but this is only for the administrator track and not for the Development or Business Intelligence track.

You can check the multiple possibilities at http://www.microsoft.com/certification

So do I, but I am preparing required resources such as Books, SQL Server Kit, and so on.

On of the problems that I faced is my friend’s suggestion which was reading as much as I can in TestKing Examples for MCITP course because it give similar questions with description of best questions.

If anyone has softcopy of TestKing Examples for MCITP I shall be more than happy if he or she send it to me at Essam.Computer@.yahoo.com

Thanks a lot

I VERY strongly discourage using a source such as TestKing. That company is in the business of ripping off certification exams and then selling answers to whomever is dumb enough to buy them. The person then passes the exams and gets a piece of paper that is truly worthless, because they have no clue how to actually work with a SQL Server. Copying off someone else's paper is cheating. It was cheating when you were 6 and it is still cheating no matter how old you get. What people need to realize is that this is a VERY small industry. I run across people at customer sites that I had worked with 15 years before. It's also not uncommon for me to be involved in interview processes at various customers and see the resumes for the same people at multiple companies spanning numerous states. I remember every single person that I've ever come across who had certifications and obtained those certifications by cheating their way through the exams. Those people will NEVER get hired at any company that I deal with and when I encounter them already working at a customer of mine, I also let the management know that I am aware of them having cheated their way to a certification.

The certification is intended to offer a base level of proof that you have achieved a basic level of knowledge in a subject, just like a diploma or a degree. A DBA is placed is a position requiring a very high level of trust. Does anyone really think that a company is going to keep someone around with access to their most sensitive data when they find out that person is a known cheat?

Take the time to learn SQL Server. Pick up books, ask questions, and USE the product. If you know SQL Server, you will have no problem passing the exam. Thousands of other people before you have already passed the exams. If you have to resort to cheating your way through, I would strongly suggest that you find another career, because if you don't have enough respect for yourself to do something honestly, this industry does not want you.

Hello mr.Michael Hotek

i would like to clarify my last post,

i am working as a programmer SQL Server since 5 years, but i modified my specialization to focus only on the Server side;

because i did not earn any exam before and i was not plan to do it, i did not care about the methodical way to start earn this certification,

when i visited Microsoft website, i saw various kind of exams and prerequisites to earn MCITP certificate and in fact i was confused,

that is way i asked this question

any way thanks again for your valued response and have a great day

Does anyone know where I can download notes for taking the MCDBA exam?
CheersRegister at this site http://www.examnotes.net/MCDBA-certification.html as a member and get'em.

MCDBA hot or not?

I've been working with SQL for close to a year now and I'm wondering if its worth the time and money to become certified. Are DBA's still on the up and rising or another job that will be outsourced to India?Anyone???|||I'm curious of the same thing. I have been working with SQL for a little over a year. I'm wondering if it's still on the up and rising and also if it pays financially. I've heard both good and bad so far.|||While some DBA work could be done remotely from offshore contractors, most companies want at least a few critical support people on-site. DBA's and network engineers seem very stable positions at this point. The developer DBA positions seem to be moving offshore with the programming staff. Make sure you are a production DBA with skills in data warehousing and you will have a career in the USA for the next ten years.

The MCDBA certification might make the difference if your company is deciding which positions to outsource. If I was making that decision, I would keep the MCDBA's with five years experience and outsource those with less credentials.

Just my opinion but I have read similar sentiments in the IT trade publications...

MCDBA Exams

Hi,
I was wondering if there is any priority in taking the
MCDBA exams, and if there is what is it. I could not find
it in Microsoft's site. As you know there are totally 4
exams, and i don't know which one should be taken first.
Thanks in advance,

Take whichever you have studied for. ;-)
The SQL Exams portion does not need to be in any particular order. Between
myself and the students that I have taught, most of them found the Admin
exam more difficult than the Implementing exam.
In general, all of the exams are pretty tough, so do spend the appropriate
amount of time studying.

MCDBA Exams

Hi,
I was wondering if there is any priority in taking the
MCDBA exams, and if there is what is it.

MCDBA ebooks - share, exchange

I'm an Oracle certified DBA.
I am in need of ebooks on SQL Server Administration, preferably
Microsoft ebooks.
I'll share/exchange tons of Oracle DBA training ebooks for these
Microsoft ones.
Please let me know at tasking1914@.yahoo.com.

Server 2005, Books Online is not really good. Go grab the SQL Server 2005

Server instances to administer, which are new to me.
So, I'd like to have a nice ebook to learn SQL Server features and
compare it with Oracle.
SQL Server books online are good for someone who already has good
experience and needs to find some details here and there. They are not
good, in my opinion, for the beginners - too much detail.
I found that Oracle traning books are just great for learning the most
important parts quickly. Later, as the needs arise, DBA may need to
reference Oracle documentation - similar to SQL Server Books Online.
So, I was looking for some Microsoft training ebooks to learn the most
important elements of SQL Server administration quickly.
Like I said, I'll share all Oracle training/certification ebooks if
someone is willing to share some of these SQL Server ebooks.
Thanks,

I am looking at doing the MCDBA certification.
Does any one have any training guides they suggest?
Web links or resources that might help?
General tips?
Is 2005 certification avialable yet?
Cheers,
